What Are The Best Yoga Practice For Cold And Flu?

When most people think about yoga, they automatically think of its benefits in dealing with the everyday stressors in life. There’s a lot that yoga can do in terms of easing tension and easing anxiety, making it the perfect exercise for your busy schedule. But what exactly is it about yoga that makes it so great for fighting off a cold or flu? There are actually several types of poses that can work especially well. 

Followings are the Yoga components, which help manage cold and flu:

ASANAS (POSTURES):

All inversion asanas are highly therapeutic in cold and flu, as they allow the blood flow towards head region, so as to combat the cold and flu.

Followings are 7 commonly used inversion asanas, practiced in the treatment of cold and flu:

  1. Padahasatana (hand to feet pose)
  2. Padottanasana (Leg stretch)
  3. Prasarita Padottanasana (wide legs stretch pose)
  4. Adhomukh Swanasana (downward facing dog pose)
  5. Sarvangasana (shoulder stand pose)
  6. Shirsasana (head stand pose)
  7. Adhomukh Vrikshasana (Arm stand pose)

Always to remember, that all inversion asanas are not to be practiced in the cases of high blood pressure, heart disease, and vertigo.

  1. Padahasatasana

padahastasanaPadahatasana helps with a cold or flu. It works on the back and hips, and it focuses on the breathing. This can help to relieve you of any tension in your muscles that may be due to a cold or flu. This can also help to increase your body’s circulation and ease any aches and pains that you may be experiencing as well.  But as with any yoga poses, you should always talk to your doctor before beginning any type of exercise regimen. or stretching routine. Make sure that you know what your doctor recommends as far as your yoga poses for cold and flu are concerned. 

2. Padottanasana

Padottanasana is one of healing postures for cold and flu. In this pose, the legs are held straight out while the chest is thrust forward. The arms and back can be holding relaxed during the pose, and this can help to lessen the pain caused by a cold or flu. 

3. Prasarita Padottanasana

Another pose that is known as the prasarita padottanasana is also a good one to use if you’re having trouble with a cold or flu. The hips and upper back are contracted, which creates a sense of ease and comfort in the body. This is also an excellent exercise that you can do to help your immune system fight off a cold or flu. And the stretch involved can really benefit you in your daily routine. Not only that, but it will help strengthen your muscles throughout the entire body.

4. Adhomukh Svanasana

The name of this post may give some people the idea that it is for people who have weak muscles. The fact is that the hips and shoulder blades are brought up, which can relax and loosen the muscles in your body. This is a pose that is a good choice to use if you have had a cold or flu, especially if you were diagnosed with it before.

5. Sarvangasana

Sarvangasana is an intensive inversion asana, which helps blood flow towards head, helping cold to treat.

6. Shirsasana (head stand)

Yoga poses for cold and flu are just one part of the total body workout that you should be doing to fight off your illness. If you don’t eat properly, drink enough water, and keep your blood circulating, then the chances of you ever having an attack or feeling better are slim to none. So make sure that you get in the habit of eating right, staying hydrated, and keeping your body clean and well-lubricated. 

Yoga poses are a great way to combat your symptoms, but there are plenty of other things that you can do as well to stay healthy. So remember to keep your immune system strong by getting in the habit of eating right, drinking enough water, and staying fit!

So make sure that you understand what your doctor recommends for your specific health concerns, including yoga poses for cold and flu. Make sure that you know what your doctor has to say about any other types of exercise and the types of yoga poses that you should be using.

There are many forms of yoga that you can choose to do when it comes to your yoga poses for cold and flu treatment.  But when it comes to your poses, remember that the only two that you need to make sure you are using are the ones that are meant for what you need.
